Tales Of Monkey Island: Chapter 5 Rise of the Pirate God Review
Well this is it, five reviews spanning over a couple of months and we are finally at the end of Tales of Monkey Island. It's been emotional to say the least with plot twists, laugh out loud moments and some old faces making an appearance just for old time's sake. The series has been good and been a bloody good way of getting new gamers in to this old genre. But before I get all teary eyed and start talking about the good old days, I supposed I better put this series to bed and review the final chapter. Due to this being the last chapter I am not going to post and spoilers about how this episode turns out, however I will be talking about the previous episode, chapter four, so if you still haven't played this I would look away now.
On the last episode we saw LeChuck become what we all know and love and kill off Guybrush to become the ultimate Voodoo Pirate to take over the world and finally have Elaine for himself. As we all know, there's no question that only Guybrush can save the day, so we can safely say that it is up to you to get Guybrush out of the afterlife with the help of a few characters (the voodoo lady and your number one fan, the bounty hunter Morgan). While I feel this episode is one of the most taxing yet, I must say that there is plenty to do here, and you will have lots to face from Ghosts to Grog - it's all here in this final episode. Again this is all done with laugh out loud humour and a lot of the old characters are in the final episodes, with some new ones along the way. Of course how can I not say that there is a final showdown with LeChuck which will use all of your skills you have learnt throughout chapters, so it's best not to skip any of the chapters. There isn't any more to say really Chapter five really finishes off the series brilliantly, if you have played through the rest already I'm pretty sure this is on your PC already, and if you are new to the series I suggest picking this up now. Again the graphics are using the same engine throughout and once again the dialog is generally funny and spot on. This is a perfect blend of the new and the old Monkey Islands, which I am sure has had a lot of old school adventure gamers coming back for a few rounds with Guybrush as well as newer gamers picking this up for the first time. I hope we get more tales from Guybrush from the Telltale team, as they have done a spot on job with this series.
Tales Of Monkey Island: Chapter Five Rise of the Pirate God (Reviewed on Windows)
This game is great, with minimal or no negatives.
