Red Dead Redemption: Legend and Killers DLC Review
You think you know all the great spots in the maps? Where all the weapons are? Well think again, my friend, as this DLC brings new areas for you to battle in. There will be no hiding in Thieves Landing, no running in Tall Trees and there will definitely be blood in the streets of Blackwater.
With the great success of the release of ‘Red Dead Redemption,' it was no doubt that Rockstar would be bringing out some DLC for the multiplayer world and by golly they want to pack it with lots of goodies for the gamers to munch on.
This DLC happened to include the following, new Trophies and Achievements, and eight new skins, including playable characters from Red Dead Revolver; such as Red Harlow and Jack Swift, but the area with most attention surrounding it was the nine new playable locations, these areas include the forest of Tall Trees, the streets of Blackwater and the murky town of Thieves Landing, all of which many of you have come across already during your single player experience, but they are new to the online experience.
Rio Bravo, where nooks and crannies make for a great shootout - with everyone naturally chucking the axe for sudden in your face encounters and Fort Mercer's interiors and courtyards are similarly quite small and close quartered. The best time for someone to put away the childish axe and bring a real mans gun to the party: the good ol' ‘sawn off'
Escalara, on the other hand, is larger with more high and low points for strategic play,
giving players who enjoy the rifles and snipers a place to come and mosey around.
But by far the best map: Blackwater. Gang shootouts can get pretty hectic when you have people hiding in alleys, on roofs, and the brave holding their own in the middle of the street, this all adds ups for a really enjoyable experience.
These maps add a dynamic experience for the diverse game modes available like Grab Bag. What I enjoy the most about this new experience is that game modes become more tactical and, well, more enjoyable. For example, Grab Bag on Blackwater; communication with your team is key, like when you're running through back alleys and down streets with the entire opposite team after you, you have to know where your team is to help. This is what really made it for me, normally the game modes all turn into one man armies, but with the new areas tactical layouts, with the game modes, you get everyone really working together and just having a good time.
The biggest portion of the fun comes from the arrival of the tomahawk - a small throwing axe that will either kill your opponent first time or stick beautifully into one of his or her limbs. It's a win/win weapon so long as it isn't spinning in your direction. I personally loathe the tomahawk; I'm bad with it and not afraid to admit that, but boy do I love the satisfaction I get when chucking my axe of death into a skull of a gobby player. Yet it also has been chosen by many to be their weapon of choice, especially in close quarter maps like Rio Bravo, where players are nipping around in close quarters between jagged rocks, turning a blind corner to come face to face with an axe wielding sheriff brings a sharp swell of tension.
The maps do fulfill the objective, the new skins offer some bolts of nostalgia and the new challenges and Trophies/Achievements do occupy the players time but it always comes down to the price of a DLC, and with this one I believe perhaps a few more strategic game modes introduced would have made this DLC worth the price it has, but as it stands, I think it's below par only due to the fact that there is little but maps in it, some new game modes are needed and a small single player side mission would not go a miss. The price being at £7.99 or 800 Microsoft points for Xbox 360 owners.

This game is good, with a few negatives.
