Porno Studio Tycoon Review

For those of you who might have wondered what goes into making a porno - you know, the technical side of things - this game might actually be for you! Porno Studio Tycoon might sound like a fun romp through the porn world, but do not get your hopes up. Though if you’re looking for a naughty game you can play with your mom in the room, here ya go!

This title, by Zitrix Megalomedia, is marketed as a business simulator with “no sexually explicit content”. It says so right on the Steam store page. Yet the name Porno Studio Tycoon would make one think that it has to have something naughty going on. Other than a few sound bites that may make one raise an eyebrow, the most questionable content you will find in this title is on the splash screen and in the logo. So... is this game good? Well… um... it’s not fun, something that’s important to make a game good.

The crafting of the porno scenes is very technical. If you do decide to play this with your parents or other family members in the room, you’ll want to mute here, but don’t worry about blocking the screen too much. The noises are just a few moans and inappropriate sounds as well as, of course, wonderful porno music. Otherwise, there really still isn’t too much to see, just some suggestive images on occasion. There’s a sound board and video screen as well as a button to order a photographer and pizza - important things. Remember you’re here to make money. Is foreplay important to this video? Are you doing an extreme scene or vanilla? You decide who’s doing what, and you’ll want to plan the scene before starting and breaks might be important. All of this is stuff you can try to learn in the convoluted tutorial that even a friend of mine couldn’t understand when she tried it. Honestly, the tutorial is closer to a vague overview that barely covers anything useful.

takes a couple of tries to make a movie before you really understand what you’re doing as the tutorial is almost useless, as I said before. I learned how to speed things up, where the map is, how to hire people, and that’s about it. Otherwise, I still don’t fully understand how the monetary system really works nor do I fully care as the game never really gave me a reason to care. Basically you go to an agency to hire actors for a week-long contract, rent apartments, film scenes, then make box art and put the films out. Woo, fun. This could be rebranded as Hollywood Studio Tycoon and be the same game.

If I wanted to learn how to run a porno-based business with a “rich economic model”, “flexible configuration of movie production” and so-on, I would probably see if there’s a class online I could take for that. Also, let’s face it, if I wanted to play a game with the word “porno” in the title, then I probably wanted to see something naughty. So it seems a little counterintuitive to make something called Porno Studio Tycoon and make it an almost entirely clean business simulator.

I never thought I’d get after a title for not showing enough skin, but here we are! Considering the title of the game has the word porno in it, I expected something risque. Though I will give the devs credit as they did specifically state that they didn’t set out to show a ton of skin. The art isn’t bad, though. The graphics are nice to look at and are well done. The characters are nicely drawn and the backgrounds are well put together, save for the dingy laundry room which I was never quite able to figure out the purpose of. I’m sure it had to have some sort of purpose and wasn’t just a random room, I hope.

I can see the appeal if this kind of thing is your wheelhouse. If you like the idea of learning, in a sense, how to run a porno studio and becoming a Porno Studio Tycoon, then this title is definitely for you. If you’re happy with the idea of not really seeing a damn thing and not in it for that but in it for the business end of things, haha, then go for it. Me, though, I’ll go back to playing HunieCam Studios if I want to run a porno studio of sorts and get a laugh out of it at the same time. Now that’s where I feel like a porn tycoon for sure. Porno Studio Tycoon on the other hand wasn’t really a game to me, it was more like work… games shouldn’t be work.
