Impossible Creatures Review

Impossible Creatures Review

Impossible Creatures is a stunning real time strategy game that comes with a very simple premise, and that is to create a team of creatures that would take down the enemies. Yes, the title is all about an evil mastermind who is trying to take over the world, and you have to be creative because you are the only one who can combine a variety of creatures in order to fulfill your goal.

The campaign mode in this game is very interesting and it has 15 missions, all of which take place in various locations all over the world. You have to try and combine the creatures the best way you can, and there are multiple methods that you can use to harness their DNA, all of which are created in order for you to successfully mix enemies in a creative and exciting manner.

The entire gameplay is suitable for a strategy game, because you do have the resource accumulation and you have to use points in order to access skills. However the cool thing about this title is that it allows you to mix creatures in a very creative manner. In fact, this is a major strength for the game as it really makes the entire experience a lot more interesting than you would expect.

Impossible Creatures does make it a lot of fun to create abominations and seeing a lot of interesting armies created by you is a rewarding experience. Of course, the ability to create such beings does affect the gameplay a little bit, and that’s what you will love about the game, which is the unique appeal that the entire experience has, along with the complete determination to defeat the evil Julius.

In order for you to collect the DNA for a creature you just have to shoot it, and since there are so many interesting animals to work with here, the possibilities are simply endless. They give you a lot of creative work here and the title does a great job when it comes to exploring the gameplay mechanics and bending the rules as you want.

The fact that they added in a few creatures in the Steam edition is not a bad thing at all, but the game does lack the feeling of completion from this perspective. On the other hand, the graphics were some of the best at the time the game was released and overall it gave a sense of uniqueness that still remains up to this date.

I found the Steam version of the game, which was re-uploaded and sold after more than a decade to be very good. The Steam integration and the fact that it supports modding adds a ton of variety to the entire experience. The best part about it is that you finally get the opportunity to play the game on modern devices which is a major plus.

Impossible Creatures keeps the heart and soul of the strategy game's release in the beginning of the 21st century and it definitely maintains a lot of charm. This is a great strategy and it delivers amazing moments of gameplay, which means that if you have the slightest interest in strange, yet fun games this one is a great addition to your Steam library!
