101 in 1 Sports Party Megamix Review
Well here we are with another Nordcurrent 101 in 1 cavalcade of disappointment and depression. The format is similar to that of the DS version, the review of which can be read here. You're offered a handful of sports to compete in, the aim is to finish in first place in things like skeet shooting, archery, curling etc. so that you may unlock further obscure shovelware sports.
The games may be played with up-to four players, that's if you really want to subject three other unfortunate souls to this drudgery. Four players flailing Wiimotes around like they're performing the secret Team America signal for trouble in order to play horse racing or rock climbing is not an ideal evening of fun.
It's also worth noting that the majority of the games contained on this disc actually require the use of the nunchuck controller along with the Wiimote, also there's no option to play as your Mii, just a generic model that barely resembles a human being. The games also have no method of fluid continuation, it is essentially play X game then drop back to the main menu to select another, and because most games last about as long as a slice of cake with a fat kid your experience is continually interrupted by constant traversing of the menus to select another game.
The graphics are basic at best, they wouldn't even push 16 bit generation consoles nevermind current generation hardware, they are simply Tesco Value visuals and that is really the nicest thing I can say about the rather crude visuals you have on display. The sounds aren't much better either while offering some margin of realism to the sport you're playing, they simply play the role of being functional rather than helping to immerse you into the game.
Overall 101 in 1 Sports Megamix is a very poor shovelware title which offers little to no entertainment value at all and leaves me wondering why development companies like this exist as they clearly can't be generating any form of sustainable revenue from titles like these. The price of this title would have more value funding a demolitions school in Albuquerque, at least then you would get more bang for your buck!
