Superdimension Neptune VS Sega Hard Girls - MCM Preview
I would like to take this preview seriously, but I’ve become somewhat addicted to the Hyperdimension Neptunia series (AKA Nep Nep) so taking things seriously is out the window like the series’ use of humor. Getting a hands on experience just proved a few things; I’m a sucker for this content and that I’m still hyped by the mere mention of Nep Nep. Superdimension Neptune VS Sega Hard Girls is something that didn’t take itself seriously. Although even if I were to try and hone in on what makes the game great, the Idea Factory booth at MCM didn’t showcase the content well enough for me to do so in my opinion.
A quick catch up on who and what Sega Hard Girls is. It’s a series which takes the original SEGA consoles as anthropomorphised goddesses in the modern world, it has an Anime, Light novel and this is their first video game (apparently).
There wasn’t much in the way of dialogue or content other than running around rather precariously in a map that didn’t seem to end. The combat isn’t dissimilar, and really there isn’t anything different after playing the first HyperDimension Neptunia Re;Birth 1. Aside from a limiter bar, the game’s main feature and content appears to be mainly just more Nep Nep but with Sega Hard Girls.
Is this something to recommend? If you like Nep Nep and own a Vita, yes. Pick the game up now. If you never got into the Hyperdimension Neptunia series, just ask yourself if you like fourth wall breaking Anime and turn based strategy games. If that’s a yes then you will probably enjoy it.
Final Thoughts
Otherwise just hope that it comes to other consoles like the PS4 and PC. It’s hard to write a preview on a game that didn’t showcase the new content, but considering that this is from Compile Heart (the creators of Nep Nep). Mechanically it’s still as solid as the original main Nep Nep series. Now did I Nep Nep enough Nep Nep?
