Subaeria Preview
Subaeria is one of those games that was created with the sole idea of offering you some really good puzzles and astounding results like never before. Not only does this allow you to improve your puzzle-solving skills, but you can also enjoy a variety of gameplay mechanics that are more than impressive.
One thing to note with Subaeria is the ability to immerse yourself into one of the most exciting third-person roguelike action puzzlers out there. The aim of the game is simply trying to manipulate the enemies in the area, rendering them inert or killing them.
You need to change their colour in order to do so, but this is well worth it, since the game provides you with some truly amazing mechanics such as the colorful ball that can be placed on top of them in order to change their colour or which attracts them towards you.
There are multiple enemies that you can face, and each one has a specific mechanic that you need to learn. The game does have many other interesting ideas that it brings to the table, such as unlockables that you can access the more you play or a multitude of neat gameplay moments that you can enjoy.
There are quite a lot of levels already in the game, even though Subaeria is still in Early Access, but I have to say that there were no technical problems and the current version in more than solid. On top of that, the game looks amazing and the visuals are already top notch, so kudos to the developer for offering such a stable Early Access version.
As you would expect, the difficulty does vary based on the level that you choose, but rest assured that the more you play, the better it will actually be. What I like the most about this title is the fact that it allows you to think more and more about the solution, but it won’t place it on its own in front of you, so you do have that satisfaction that comes from figuring a solution out on your own.
While the puzzle element here is very good, the other sides are also amazing as well. For example, controlling the character is responsive and the more you play, the easier it will be for you to get the outcome you want.
As it stands, Subaeria is a great purchase already, but since this is an Early Access version, things will get better, so this is definitely a true investment. If you want a solid game with a whole lot of cool mechanics and plenty of content to come within the next year, then Subaeria is a worth it.
