Heist Kitty Preview
Everyone knows cats are the purrfect criminals; it’s why we have cat burglars. So, it’s no wonder that when I heard about Heist Kitty: Multiplayer Cat Simulator Game, I had to play it. Brought to you by developer LetMeowtGames LLC and published by Excalibur Games, it’s time to go a-stray.
Heist Kitty is a game where you play as a cat and commit crimes, or you can work to prevent it. In a world where cat crime runs rampant, you can choose to do good, or you can sow seeds of chaos in the world. I chose to remain lawful in my first run, after having a short career in crime where I found myself casually fulfilling tasks for the mayor. Unfortunately, the mayor is uncertain of what to do, so she has you run errands that include working for the mafia and assisting the police force.
Before you enter the game, you need to decide on the type of cat you want to be. You have a selection of skins to choose from, so I chose the noble black cat. After all, isn’t it just so cute? Once you select your cat, you are introduced to the world of Heist Kitty.
In this world, it’s assumed that the player is some kind of social media star. Your owner films videos featuring you and their pet rabbit. The rabbit is happy to lead you through to the tutorial by feeding your owner and ensuring he doesn’t die. So, give him some candy and everything is fine.
The first time I played this, I thought I would connect my controller — don’t do this. I quickly ended up removing the controller as it was impossible to rotate the camera, and that’s essential. Instead, I used my mouse and keyboard, which was much simpler. At least then I could help a poor human who was stuck in the tree.
To help humans and cats alike, you need to claw, climb, jump, and be an overall nuisance. You can jump onto the humans and climb on their back to control them. Logistically, it makes sense, I would let a cat control me like Remy from Ratatouille if it meant that I was no longer trapped in a tree.
Of course, this is a sandbox-type game. So, you know what you need? Weapons. As a cat, you can have different items that make it easier to carry objects around. However, you can’t just embark on random chaos. No, you need to keep an eye out for animal control, who have far more advanced weapons than you. Keep in mind, the weapons aren’t extremely powerful, but that’s why you have the most important weapon of them all.
As a cat, you are naturally an excellent driver. You can steal cars and drive to different locations to continue your missions. Truthfully, I loved driving around. How do your little paws reach the pedals? Nobody knows. You are simply a purrfect driver (no, I’m not apologising for the number of cat puns that you’ll find in this game).
Once you complete the tutorial, you have to pick a side. Mafia or the police? Somehow, I found myself siding with the police. As much as I loved the chaos of the mafia and using cucumbers as a deterrent, I appreciated the cats in the force more. After all, they want to do the best for their owners and ensure cat-kind can live peacefully. So, I decided to work with them. Plus, the chief of police has some hilarious interactions, and they did have the best gossip.
I should also add that the great thing about this game is that there is multiplayer too. While I haven’t tried it, being that I have no friends who own Heist Kitty, I would have no problems trying it out. Imagine the level of chaos you could embark on around town?
Based on the time I spent playing this game, and the time I intend to continue inciting chaos, I would happily recommend it. It’s full of puns and pop culture references, including cat puns based on characters from The Matrix and Harry Potter.
So, would I recommend Heist Kitty? Absolutely. Do I look forward to the day it is fully released? Also yes. So, keep an eye out on Steam, where it is planned to be released on the 14th of June, 2023.
