Yooka-Laylee Update Changes Camera Style, Reduces Gibberish
The team at Playtonic have only just got the PC, Xbox and PS4 versions of Yooka-Laylee out in the wild, but as well as working on the Switch version, they’re already planning enhancements to the game. With a few bugs fixed in the day one patch, the indie developer are hoping to go further by making more changes to improve the game in an upcoming patch.
The camera operation is getting an overhaul: one of the most popular requests in the game. The company demonstrated the new system on their website, and it will essentially give the option of freeform camera movement to replace the fixed but adjustable style that the game inherited from the developers’ ‘90s output.
Also, the polarising “gibberish voices” that the characters speak in is set to get more tolerable for those who aren’t fans. This means that optional abilities to skip dialogue faster, bypass cutscenes and reduce the voices are all being added in.
