Yalpakor Bou·tique Announces Title "as Cheap As a Cup of Coffee", A Game About Digging A Hole
A solo developer from Cyberwave and publisher Yalpakor Bou·tique has announced today A Game About Digging A Hole, a minimalist experience created as a side project of the solo developer where you dig a hole in your garden. As the player tunnels down with spades and drills, they’ll collect resources to sell, upgrade equipment, and dig deeper, turning the once pristine grassy backyard into a rabbit warren fixed with lights. Beneath the garden, there are treasures to claim and secrets that need discovering with every inch the player digs.
The concept for A Game About Digging a Hole was made during an early development stage of Solarpunk (an upcoming Cyberwave title) when the team was testing voxel-based islands and the basics for terraforming. Although the small team later found it too complex, the core mechanics were already functional. From this, the solo developer (and a big fan of the game Motherload) combined the terraforming mechanics with randomly spawning ores and shovel upgrade options.
The developer spent 14 days during their vacation to bring the project to life, building it on a proven concept without requiring lengthy prototypes or testing phases and cutting costs of development by using pre-made assets. A Game About Digging A Hole will announce more updates and news up to its launch next year on PC via Steam, and as cheap as a cup of coffee (£3.99GBP / €4.99EUR / $4.99USD), so stay tuned for all the latest info!
