Xbox One Will Allow Eight in Party Chat From Launch
Following the news that the PlayStation 4 will allow up to eight users to occupy a single party chat, Microsoft has revealed information concerning the Xbox One's group chat system and what players can expect from launch.
Speaking to Game Informer, a Microsoft spokesperson said that "At launch, up to eight people will be able to join a Party Chat at a time on Xbox One." This matches both what has been confirmed for the PS4, and what is already possible on the Xbox 360.
The choice of words seem to imply that increasing the number over time has not been ruled out. For most games, eight-player parties are more than adequate. However, for games like Battlefield 4, which boasts 64-person multiplayer, some gamers may feel that a cap of eight players is restrictive.
The Xbox One will launch worldwide on November 22.
