X Rebirth Expansion Home of Light Released

Fans of the X series of games will be pleased to see that a free major update is now available for the series’ sixth game, X Rebirth. The expansion, dubbed Home of Light, is a free download on Steam for all players of the game and marks the end of the beta period fro the Mac and Linux versions, with the game now an official title for both systems.

The update adds three new star systems, new missions and weaponry as well as the return of an old foe. The central Home of Light from the X3 games is included as part of this DLC. A new difficulty setting for the hardened among us has been included, raising the maximum difficulty to “very hard” Full details can be found on the official website but Egosoft have created a handy video detailing all the features as well.
