WRC 5 Getting a Special eSports Edition

Bigben announced that on the 7th of April, players of WRC 5 FIA World Rally Championship in the EU will be able to get their hands on a special eSports edition version of the game. With this version, players will receive the game itself and the two released DLC packs featuring 13 new stages (one for each rally), bringing the total to 78 stages overall. There is a new exclusive car included in the game as part of those DLCs, and of course, this version will give full access to the eSports tournament.

The eSports tournament runs parallel to the official WRC Rally Championships, with players racing virtual cars around the same tracks as their real life counterparts . The top prize at the end of the tournament is an exclusive Hyundai i20 road car, that's €20,000 euros worth of actual physical steel and horsepower for flinging some pixels round virtual corners. Of course, you'll need to be really good at pixel flinging as there's some stiff competition in the tournament, which is ongoing at the moment.

The eSports WRC season is divided into two halves with 5 qualifying rounds and a semi-final for each half. The semi-finals will be played online during Rally Italia Sardegna (9th – 12th June) and Rally RACCCatalunya (13th – 16th October), right before the grand finale at Wales Rally GB, where the best 18 drivers will be invited to fight for the title. Qualifications are still open and even in September players around the world will still have the opportunity to qualify for the grand finale.
