Who Are Deck Nine?

Who Are Deck Nine?

You may remember the gaming company Idol Minds. They've been around for two decade now, bringing the world some classic games. Their portfolio includes some big hitters such as Cool Boarders 3, Ratchet: Gladiator HD, and Pain. After 20 years of that name though, they fancied a change and are now rebranding to shift their focus to AAA titles.

“With the creation of our new, proprietary toolset StoryForge and the shift in studio focus, we are removing the shackles from our creative team and bringing together our two passions; meaningful storytelling and rich gameplay,” said Jeff Litchford, Vice President at Deck Nine. “We’ve invested heavily in our staff of incredibly talented developers and in creating some truly remarkable tools. Our game will be announced at E3 this year where you’ll be able to see our efforts for yourself.”

“The studio has been focused on the creation of StoryForge for the last three years” added Mark Lyons, President and CTO at Deck Nine. “We built StoryForge to give our writers, directors and cinematic artists and give them the tools they need to make deep, interactive, great looking games. We can’t wait to show what we have created with it.”

The aim is that Deck Nine will be publishing much larger games than before, the first of which is under development at the moment, and will get a full reveal at the upcoming E3 show. their stated aim is to become "premium developer of narrative adventure games for consoles, PC and mobile devices worldwide."

It's never easy to reinvent your company.  They've obviously put a lot of time & effort into it.  I'm looking forward to the E3 reveal & wish them the best of luck!

Me too, Pain was one of my favourite games on the PS3. They're clearly a group who understands what makes things fun.
