Warcraft III: Reforged - What's New?
Warcraft III: Reforged is out now, bringing Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and its expansion The Frozen Throne to modern audiences with a suite of updates and improvements. With a 60+ mission single-player campaign and 'timeless' competitive multiplayer, Warcraft III: Reforged could once again swallow up the free time of countless PC gamers like it did 18 years ago. Take a look at the launch trailer above.
J. Allen Brack, President of Blizzard Entertainment, stresses that the company's "biggest goal was to modernize the game while retaining everything that players have loved about it". What exactly does this mean? What will players find different this time around? Read on to find out:
- Graphics Overhaul - Characters, structures, environments and animations are all given a hefty coat of paint. In addition, new graphical effects have also been implemented where none were before.
- Improved Audio - Remastered sound effects and voice-over work (although the performances themselves have been left untouched).
- Cross-Version Multiplayer - That's right, Reforged players will be able to compete against players of the original. I predict a rivalry!
- New World Editor - The game's previous world editor has been replaced with an all-new version intended to give the community greater freedom in creating custom in-game content. Players will find hundreds of new triggers, LUA scripting support and tools for importing models along with more tools in planned updates.
- Battle.net - Warcraft III: Reforged will be fully integrated with Blizzard's Battle.net service. This means that community, messaging and quality of life services offered by Battle.net will be fully integrated too.
Warcraft III: Reforged is out now on the Blizzard Store for £24.99; a Spoils of War special edition is also available for £34.99 with unique in-game skins and an array of bonuses for other Blizzard titles such as World of Warcraft, Hearthstone and Diablo III.
