Warcraft III: Reforged Finally Gets Custom Campaigns
When Blizzard Entertainment released Warcraft III: Reforged back in 2020, it was to universal disappointment. Not only was the game released without several promised upgrades (such as improved cinematics), but it was also missing many core features that the original game launched with back in 2002. To make matters worse, Blizzard made the decision to replace the original client with the new one. Meaning, unless you were running a pirated version of Warcraft III, you were affected by the changes — regardless of if you had purchased the reforged version or not. The ability to create Clans (guilds), or partake in a PVP ladder system, has since been added (or should I say added back).
But a core feature was still missing; the ability for dedicated fans to create and download custom campaigns. We first got the word in December that this feature was being tested in the PTR version of patch 1.35.0, Blizzard Community Manager “Kaivax” wrote the following blue notes on a related forum.
Patch 1.35.0 finally went live on the 19th of January, allowing long-time lovers of fan-made content to rejoice. With the inclusion of this feature, major community projects can now be released and safely implemented into Warcraft III: Reforged.
The following are the relevant patch notes on the subject.
