Volcanoids Prepares for Upcoming Combat Update

The Volcanoids team has announced that the game's next major update, focused primarily on combat, will release in January 2021 for PC and Linux (via Steam Early Access). 

The update will add weapons (SMG and sniper rifle) and new armour for players while also increasing the variety of weapons wielded by robots, making for a greater challenge. Additionally, players will be able to outfit their drillships with a turret add-on, helping them mow down the waves of attacking robots. While it's not set for release until January, an optional beta branch of the game is available for players to check out on Steam, letting them test out some of the new features before they officially release.

In Volcanoids, players must team up to survive on a doomed island overrun by an army of mechanical monstrosities. As they survive the island's environment and the onslaught of robots, players will build up resources, allowing them to bolster their defences and dive below their surface with the aid of powerful (and upgradeable) drillships. As they dig deeper, they'll uncover rarer resources and blueprints which will help them overcome the robot threat. Will the survivors purge the island of its mechanical plague? There's only one way to find out.
