Valve Introduce Steam Support Stats Site
We’ve never really hidden the fact that most of us here at GameGrin love Steam. The digital storefront revolutionised PC gaming and changed the face of our beloved hobby, mostly for good. One thing that nobody can deny though is that their customer service has traditionally left a lot to be desired. Valve know this too, and they’re trying to improve, with the latest step being the introduction of the Steam Support Stats page.
“We’ve been hearing from users for several years about the need for us to keep working on improving Steam Support.” Stated the company via their website. “As always, our goal with Steam is to be continuously improving and creating better user experiences across the board. “
The page reveals some interesting statistics. At present, Valve receive about 75,000 requests per day, and on average there will be a backlog of requests that are awaiting attention of about 8,000 at any one time. That might seem like a lot, but it was around 50,000 at a point earlier in the year, showing that the company are at least improving.
The idea behind the site is to be transparent about failings in customer service and ticket resolution, and to let users know what improvements have been made so far. Hopefully, it will give incentive to the company for continuing that improvement to the point where backlogs aren’t in the thousands on a normal day.
