Valve Announce Warning About CS:GO Betting
Valve released a statement regarding "unnecessary risks" about betting on professional Counter Strike: Global Offensive games. They advise strongly against betting on matches.
The statement found on Counter Strike's blog tells all users that due to recent events, the 26 suspended professional players, that betting on E-Sport games are not worth the risk of betting and losing money as currently there is high-risk of "insider information" being used by team members and their friends to sway the winnings for themselves.
Valve said: "Professional players, teams, and anyone involved with professional events should never bet on matches or associate with those who do." They then said those who bet whilst being in a team or those involved in the match will be suspended and banned if they are caught. Whilst then advising against betting due to the high-risk and upset for users.
"To avoid these risks, we recommend that you never bet on any CS:GO game or match. This recommendation applies both to current professional players and anyone who wishes to participate in a Valve-sponsored CS:GO event in the future."
