Trine 3 Developer Apologises For Short Length
Developer Frozen Bytes have spoken up in response to criticism of their latest game Trine 3 : The Artifacts of Power.
One thing they refute categorically is that the game is the length it is (between 4 and 7 hours depending on player skill) because of wanting to sell DLC at a later date. They refute it because they have no plans to release any DLC for the game.
They stated in a post on the Steam community forums that Trine 3 : The Artifacts of Power has cost triple what Trine 2 did, some 5.4 million US Dollars. They also explain that they initially had a much longer story written and more levels planned that would probably cost anything up to 15 million, also known as more money than they had. This they didn't realise until too late.
They state that they will continue to update and patch the game as they have with previous titles, and it would appear that the future of the series is in question, as the feedback, user reviews and poor media attention has caught them by surprise.
