The Wonderful 101: Remastered Kickstarter is Live and Booming
Modern cult-classic The Wonderful 101 is receiving the remaster treatment via Kickstarter, and the game has already flown past its original stretch goal receiving £844,703 out of £38,356 (¥119,483,093 out of ¥5,425,000) at the time of writing.
This means that the title will be coming to Nintendo Switch, Steam and PlayStation 4 alongside additional content. The Kickstarter managed to reach its initial goal of a Nintendo Switch remaster within a matter of hours, and the amount of pledges are still increasing, showing that fans of The Wonderful Ones are eager to see their return.
Pledge rewards can range from ¥3,900 or ¥4,400 for a digital and physical copy of the game respectively (approximately £27.43 and £30.94) up to a whopping ¥200,000. The largest pledge award includes items such as a t-shirt, a Wonder-Red Replica Jacket, Vinyl Record Soundtrack, Softcover Artbook, and much more, including the privilege of being blocked by the game’s director Hideki Kamiya on Twitter.
The Wonderful 101 originally released in 2013 exclusively for the Wii U, and despite failing to gain much commercial traction the game quickly grew a cult following, with many fans praising it as one of the greatest action games ever created. The Wonderful 101 provides an unorthodox slant on the typical action formula, putting players in control of an horde of superheroes via an isometric viewpoint and turning them into various weapons using the “Unite Morph” power.
The Nintendo Switch release of The Wonderful 101: Remastered is set to release April 2020, with the Steam and PlayStation 4 versions following soon after.
