The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine & One of Games Getting Funding from EU Commission

We've mentioned the EU Commision once or twice in the past year, and now we're talking about them again! That is officially more than we've mentioned the Kardashians.

From telling Google and Apple that they're making too much money, to giving it away to games studios based in Europe!

Amongst the 31 games that are set to receive the funding are The Witcher 3's DLC Blood & Wine, Detective Grimoire 2, and an upcoming title from Revolution Software The Enemy Within.

Some games are receiving more funding than others, with some only being co-funded 7% and others up to 50%. The funding is being given to improve competitiveness in the European videogames industry, and was opened to applications from existing developers earlier this year.

Out of all of the applicant countries, the UK were the greediest asking for €2,654,574.00, Spain close behind with €2,078,240.00. The least greedy were Slovenia, where Media Atlas asked for €24,000.00 -- and were granted the full amount. The UK received 24% of the funding requested spread amongst four studios, and Spain only 5% -- though that gives one studio 50% of its funding.
