The Plucky Squire Chapter Four 100% All Art Scrolls, Glitchbirds, and Achievements (with Video)

If you're looking for the opportunity to 100% The Plucky Squire without much hassle, then we've got you covered! We already have specific guides for the Art Scrolls and the Glitchbirds, which are ordered by Chapters and when you come across them. These guides are meant to be a 100% guide for a Chapter-per-Chapter approach, in case you want to follow along and not miss out on things (especially since missing one of the Glitchbirds will force you to replay the whole game for completion).

Chapter Four — A Treacherous Trail is home to one Glitchbird, seven Art Scrolls, and three achievements.

Without further ado, let's begin with Chapter Four — A Treacherous Trail.

Achievement: Huge Frog

The first chunk of the Chapter doesn't really do much aside from putting the 3D swapping into play. After you've finally reached the HUGE BUG word puzzle where you have to change a bug that's blocking the path, you'll finally have reached the first few collectibles and missable things in the Chapter.

In this Huge Bug puzzle, you need to use the adjective that is modifying the bug into a ginormous creature blocking your path to give it to the "TINY FROG" that you use to complete the puzzle. It's relatively simple, as you'll need to complete the puzzle regardless to get the achievement; once you've unlocked the path to the TINY FROG, use the word HUGE on it to change its size into being massive, and you'll get the achievement Huge Frog.

Immediately after the Huge Frog achievement, you'll get the opportunity to find Martina! She'll sell you the 10th Art Scroll for 20 light bulbs.

Achievement: Perfect Fish Grab

After you've completed the puzzle involving the HUGE LILYPAD to cross the river and get to the other side, you'll come across Floatio, the romantic fish that is struggling to get back into the water. In order to get the achievement, you need to grab Floatio on your first try, which means that you'll need to be extra careful, especially since this achievement is very difficult to get with Chapter Replay, so you'll want to do it with a save file that's at the Floatio location organically (rather than backtracking).

There are a few things to note regarding this achievement. The game immediately autosaves as you find Floatio's page, so the best way to try this achievement is to try to grab Floatio and, if you fail, exit back to the main menu and try again by reloading, which will give you access to the mini-game again... and the dialogue that comes with it (so get ready to hear Jot's mind clearing several times.

Now, you are ready to grab the fish... but hold on a second, as nervous sorts will need to calm down! Floatio seems to have three jumping lengths, and Jot can only grab him when he is at the lowest. When you see Floatio jumping too high, make sure you don't try to grab him, as it'll lead to fail because he'll be just out of your reach (this comes from my personal experience farming the achievement, and it could be that I missed the timing every time). Instead, as you see in the video, wait until you feel comfortable with the jumping length and try to get him in the middle; you have to keep in mind the wind-up animation of Jot extending his arm, so you'll want to do it before the fish has reached the middle, not when he is exactly there.

It can be a bit tedious, but the truth is that the achievement isn't that difficult to get! From my experience, it was only a few resets before I managed to get it on my first try, and once I'd learnt the trick, I managed to get it on the first try while making the video, too!

Achievement and Art Scroll #11: Huge Bridge / Concept - Area - Slime Dungeon

The next page after Floatio is home to an achievement and an Art Scroll. First, we're going to talk about the achievement, as it is the most missable one and it is a hidden achievement.

After arriving at the Day/Night page, where you'll need to alter the time of day in order to make the frogs move, you'll want to use the Metamagic portal to travel back to where you created the HUGE LILYPAD to get the word HUGE and apply it to the BROKEN BRIDGE. This should give you the Huge Bridge achievement (and the final achievement of the Chapter) — do make sure to remove the HUGE from the sentence and return it to BROKEN, as otherwise, when you change the time of day, the frog will not move and get you stuck in the puzzle for a while needlessly. Yes, I am talking from personal experience.

Now, for the 11th Art Scroll, you'll need to turn it into daytime by using the word from the previous cutscene, and once you do, head to the far left of the page, where you'll find a large block you can move and press the switch to unlock the word "SOLID". Instead of using the word and progressing with the puzzle, however, this same switch will give you access to the left-most island, where in the tree that you can hit, you'll find the Art Scroll.

Immediately after completing the Day/Night puzzle, you'll arrive at a 2D section that incorporates the outside world to use a box and traverse. At the end of this whole puzzle, you'll find a retractable bridge that goes away when you place the box on the switch — instead of jumping down, cross the bridge to find a hidden room containing the 12th Art Scroll.

This is the first of two Art Scrolls in the 3D section for Chapter Four — A Treacherous Trail; as always, I'm going to give you a warning to closely follow the guide until you've completed the 3D section, as these are highly missable and once you finish the section, it'll all disappear, meaning you'll have to replay everything up to arriving at the outer-world puzzle for that area.

Now, after you've begun going towards the Elven Bow, you'll find a Minibeard Toy on your way up — after fighting a few more goblins, you'll find a second Minibeard Toy, and here, you'll be tasked with moving a yellow block with a hear from behind a palette. Behind that same palette, a little bit deeper than the block was, you'll find the 13th Art Scroll.

Advance all the way up until you slide down through the decorative flags and arrive at the closed gate to enter the castle. Here, you'll need to find two keys to open the gate, and once you do, hidden behind a wall on the right-forward-most wall, you'll find the scroll. This one's pretty easy to miss, as it's not visible from most camera angles; it's also the last Art Scroll in the 3D section, and you can now safely complete it without worrying about missing anything!

The next Art Scroll is sold by Martina when you arrive at Snailford-upon-Avon. It'll cost you 20 light bulbs, and it's the last Martina you'll find in Chapter Four — A Treacherous Trail, so you can safely buy some upgrades without worrying about finding one more Martina and not having the light bulbs to purchase the Art Scroll.

Glitchbird #4

33:34 in the video.

This is a highly missable Glitchbird. When you're at Snailford-upon-Avon, you'll want to use the Metamagic portal to go back to where you arrived after defeating the mosquitos with the Elven Bow. Here, the page on the far left is blacked out, but it really has a hidden Metamagic portal that you can find where the Glitchbird will be hiding out.

Art Scroll #16: Enemy Ideas 3

After Thrash and Violet have been kidnapped by the Boss Bug, you'll find it on the next page. The lonely tree (and the only one you can hit) is glowing and contains the final Art Scroll (and collectible) of Chapter Four — A Treacherous Trail!

There you have it! The 100% of Chapter Four — A Treacherous Trail!
