The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom Brings In a New Protagonist to the Franchise

The jokes are finally going to pay off, as announced in the latest Nintendo Direct streamed on the 18th of June 2024 is The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, a title where you can take control of the titular protagonist — none other than the Princess of Hyrule!

Pretty much stealing the show was the brand-new Zelda release. While fans have been crazy for old-school titles that return to the franchise's roots since the release of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, this one is finally offering the opportunity to not only return to the beloved dungeons but also play as Princess Zelda.

Using the charming graphics style of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Echoes of Wisdom has you taking control of the princess, though you won't be fighting with the iconic Master Sword this time around. Our protagonist will stumble across a fairy named Tri, who will bestow upon her the Tri Rod, as she sets off on a journey to save the kingdom; this will become the main tool for combat and traversal.

The Tri Rod can create echoes of any item you find in the world — from furniture to unusual items and even enemies. This will give you a brand-new and unique way to explore the world, as you'll use environmental combat (like fighting with rocks) or creating echoes of monsters to fight by your side.
