The Latest Open World RPG from Marvel... is on Mobile?

PAX East is famous for being a hotbed of announcements and exclusive reveals, the latest of which comes in the form of a mobile-only open world RPG from Netmarble: MARVEL Future Revolution.

The teaser trailer (found above) outlines the game's central premise. Multiple versions of Earth are colliding, bringing the pantheon of Marvel favourites face-to-face with alternate versions of themselves on a new "Primary Earth".

With "AAA quality graphics" and co-op gameplay on a "massive scale", players will embody Marvel icons like Captain America and Spider-Man in a universe where locations are merging into each other. MARVEL Future Revolution looks to be a step up from mobile games of yesteryear, potentially on-par with the type of experience players expect from consoles and PCs. Hopefully Netmarble can produce a game that lives up to the promise.

Mobile gaming has undoubtedly come a long way from Doodle Jump  and Words With Friends. With PUBG, Dead by Daylight and Fortnite all earning mobile versions, the floodgates seem to be well and truly open for viable, fully-fledged games to release on smartphones. It remains to be seen what the monetisation model for the game will be: microtransactions are dicey issue for many players and one that leads to some condemning mobile gaming entirely. 

No release window has been outlined for Marvel Future Revolution. Although, if other high-profile mobile games are any indication, it'll be available for pre-registration long before its official release. So it's worth keeping an eye open for news.
