The Expanse: A Telltale Series Reveals Extended Gameplay Footage With Developer Commentary
Telltale Games and developer Deck Nine have released 10 minutes of gameplay footage paired with developer commentary for The Expanse: A Telltale Series. The video gives a peek at some of the environments, characters, and tough decisions players can look forward to making. It’s definitely a Telltale experience at its core. The protagonist Camina Drummer is voiced by Cara Gee, reprising her role from the titular television series.
We see Drummer exploring the remains of a destroyed ship and discovering its deceased crew — the aftermath of an attack by a group of pirates. Drummer navigates the ship using zero-g movement, ultimately making her way to another crew member named Rayen whose leg is stuck under a vault full of cargo supplies. In Telltale fashion, you have to make a difficult choice to either lose the vault or cut off Rayen’s leg to keep the vault. This decision “will carry through the entirety of the game,” says Stephan Frost game director at Deck Nine. Consequences will not only affect the plot but also your relationships with the rest of your crew.
Though The Expanse is primarily story and character-driven, there’s also an emphasis on exploration with large spaces you can traverse in zero-g. “There are items that will completely shift your relationship with characters if you find them and bring them back to your crew,” Frost explains in the video.
The Expanse: A Telltale Series is set for launch sometime in Summer 2023. You can wishlist the game now on PC via the Epic Games Store.
