The Bubonic Plague, also known as the Black Death, was one of the most destructive pandemics to hit the planet. It's estimated to have killed somewhere between 70 and 200 million people, more than George R R Martin. Thought to be caused by the Yersinia Pestis bacterium, this devastating disease wiped out around half of the population of Europe in the 14th Century. So with such a charming and jolly history, it's perfect as the theme to a videogame.

The Black Death is a survival RPG set to the backdrop of the disease in medieval Western Europe. There's 10 classes to suit your preferred playstyle and a unique combat system designed for the game from the ground up. Like many games of its type, the aim is simply survival, but with so many people becoming infected, the odds are not in your favour. The game should be arriving on Steam Early Access in March.
