Techland Launches a Surprise Dying Light and Chivalry Crossover Event

On 6th December, Techland simultaneously announced and launched a Chivalry: Medieval Warfare crossover event for their zombie-smashing, open world action/horror, Dying Light. The event is set to last from 6th - 16th December and will introduce a random encounter in which players must save innocent bystanders from 'medieval' zombies with buckets on their heads. In addition to this, players can also access a new sword, unique shield and a medieval-themed suit of armour. Check out the launch trailer above.

Era appropriate sword, the Zweihander, is available download in the free Chivalry Weapon Pack alongside an accompanying shield —intended for bashing more than protection. The aforementioned suit of armour is not actually part of this pack, but will instead be unlocked by the community upon its collective completion of an unconfirmed goal. Pure speculation here, but it's sensible to assume the goal has something to do with the event's random bucket-head zombie encounter. It's worth noting that although the event ends on the 16th December, the unlocked weapons and armour will stay as a permanent addition to players' inventories.

It's astonishing that almost five years after its release in January 2015, a predominantly single-player game like Dying Light can receive content updates and developer support; this level of developer devotion is a rarity outside of free-to-play and multiplayer titles. There's no doubt that these content updates are helping Techland in promoting its upcoming sequel, Dying Light 2 and are funded for that very reason, but it's still worth appreciating the tireless work this developer has put in over the years.

The Chivalry event for Dying Light will run from 6th to 16th December. The Chivalry Weapon Pack is also available on Steam now.
