Surprise, Metal Gear Survive Has Microtransactions
The upcoming spin-off title Metal Gear Survive has been confirmed to have microtransactions. The game's producer has made some comments on their presents though.
In an interview with Official PlayStation Magazine UK the game's producer, Yuji Korekado that the micotransactions "will not be loot boxes, and there will not be a pay-to-win types of micotransactions. There will be things like the accessories in Metal Gear Online, and Forward Operating Bases in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain."
Though the comments from Yuji Korekado are reassuring it is still a shame that the title will include micotransactions of any sorts. Some of the ones in the title also allow players to earn additional rewards, even if they are not ways to pay-to-win.
Metal Gear Survive will be available on 20th February for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

I mean, is there an online-only game that doesn't have them? Barring games made in Flash, of course.

Just Konami being Konami.

People need to start treating games like food. Look at the label, and if it's full of toxic crap like 'microtransactions', don't buy it. Given these companies all worship at the altar of Mammon, as soon as they start consistently losing money on this stuff, they'll stop pushing it. (And probably devise some new and equally obnoxious means of generating revenue.)
