Surprise! Destiny 2: Curse of Osiris Locks Vanilla Content Behind DLC Paywall
With Destiny 2: Curse of Osiris being released it seems that players who have not picked up the expansion are now being locked out of some high end content.
The release of Curse of Osiris brought with it plenty of new content and also an increase to the top power level and player level cap. It is here that the first main problem has been found. You see, without the expansion a player is unable to reach the new power level cap of 330. This means that the new Raid Lair and the Prestige variants of the Leviathan and the Nightfall are beyond reach for base game players.
In turn players are now unable to earn The Legend of Acrius which is the exotic shotgun earned through the raid. This means that an exotic from the base game is now locked behind the paywall of the Curse of Osiris. On top of that, the returning heroic strike playlist is now locked behind the expansion even though the Curse of Osiris only brought two new strikes to the game. The Nightfall strike now requires the expansion and this week's Nightfall is The Inverted Spire, a strike from the base game.
The crucible has introduced a new playlist that makes the new expansion maps show up more often. As you might have guessed, no DLC means no access to these maps.
It is common for DLC content to be locked for those who do not purchase it but in the case of Destiny 2: Curse of Osiris, vanilla game content is now locked. Even with the first Destiny content was not locked away like this so as you can expect fans are not best pleased. Seems the Curse of Osiris is having a number of problems right now.
Destiny 2 and it's first expansion, Curse of Osiris, are available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

So the first game cost Activision a billion dollars - you'd imagine they'd put more than that into the sequel. Bungie aren't really showing their best work under Activision, are they...?

It's a shame really.

This isn't too bad it sounds worse than it is really, people who played Destiny 1 should have known this was going to happen because it happened in D1 and the devs also told us 3 weeks ago this was going to happen. It locks you out of the prestige raid which everyone I know hated. It locks off an or ornament for 1 gun that has been available for 3 months. And it locks off a prestige nightfall when literally no one did that anyway. The main thing that annoys me is that the devs said on the first reveal stream that the raid was being bumped to 300 and 330 they literally warned us lol

Good thing everyone watches every livestream ;)
Did they post news in-game? I've not played it, so don't know how feasible that is, whether there's a login screen or news, just somewhere they could potentially post that.

True that part was pretty deceptive on their part to all the new players but to the veterans and the people who watched the live stream this shouldn't be shocking :p

From what I gather, this has now locked an achievement on the Xbox version behind a DLC paywall. I didn't think MS were all too happy about that scenario.
Achievements in the DLC are fine, but not ones from the original launch that require you to have the addin.

Yeah but apparently they are fixing this issue which I think really should have never been a issue to start with. But they are probably going to have a easy mode of the raid where it drops from 330 to 300 because of this achievement issue.
