Supermoves Developer Makea Games Is Shutting Down

Makea Games, the Finnish developers of the parkour racing title Supermoves: World of Parkour, added a bit of rain to our sunny spring mid-April, as they announced the inevitable shutting down of the studio. In the announcement, studio founder, Tomi Toikka, goes over the future of their IPs and things to come.

The shutdown itself is said to be due to the current difficulties and turbulences in both the global economy and the gaming industry as a whole, though the studio does recognise that they were unable to find a stable audience for their acrobatic racing title. Though Supermoves received positive reviews and over 800 user-made levels, it simply wasn't enough to keep the lights on.

The current situation pertaining to the Supermoves servers is mercurial, as Makea Games explores options and alternatives. Luckily, the game does have a single-player career mode which will continue, but the online functionalities cannot be guaranteed.

The features that will be affected are as follows:

  • Online multiplayer playlists
  • Makea Editor
  • Explore Menu and user-created levels
  • Leaderboards
  • Online lobby system, progression and challenges

Further information will be supplied by the studio as it is available.
