Super Meat Boy Forever Release Date Confirmed
A release date of 23rd December has been confirmed by Team Meat for the Epic Games Store version of its upcoming platforming sequel Super Meat Boy Forever. Check out the release date trailer above to get a glimpse of finished game, complete with several new gameplay mechanics, bosses and cinematics.
Originally announced in 2014 as a mobile-only sequel to the original Super Meat Boy, the project was then rebooted in 2017 as a PC and console game. After a delay, pushing the game back from April 2019, the title now has a true, honest-to-god release date of 23rd December on the Epic Games Store (coming to Steam in 2021 with console release dates to be confirmed).
So, what's new in Super Meat Boy Forever? What has Team Meat been working on for so long? For one, our meaty protagonist now comes packed with punch, slide and plummet moves, making room for more complex, challenging platforming and combat challenges. In addition, Team Meat has been working on a method of procedurally generating levels while retaining the high standard of stage quality Super Meat Boy players have come to expect. In theory, this should mean that players have a near-endless supply of top-notch levels to play through in Super Meat Boy Forever. Will it work out that way in reality? Well, we'll just have to wait until next week to find out!
Super Meat Boy Forever releases for PC on the Epic Games Store on the 23rd December. A Steam release is planned for 2021. Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, Linux, Android and iOS versions of the game are planned for release, although there is currently no confirmed release date for any of them.
