Stampede: Racing Royale Announces Official Closure Come this Summer

Stampede: Racing Royale Announces Official Closure Come this Summer

The free-to-play racing tile Stampede: Racing Royale developed by Sumo Digital and Secret Mode has officially announced its upcoming closure. Home to dozens of players, the MMO Online PvP title saw a returning fanbase for its racing game, but it has reached a snag that'll close its production entirely.

Set to sunset sometime this summer — in the next three months — Stampede: Racing Royale has seen a run that's lasted a little over two years. Though an exact closing date hasn't been given just yet, we do know the official timeline, and the game ill still be seeing a few updates leading up to the close.

Before moving on to what players can expect up to Season 1, the Sumo Leamington team wanted to extend a final heartfelt goodbye to their audiences:

Before that, the entire Sumo Leamington team want to extend their thanks and appreciation to the Stampede: Racing Royale community. Since the game’s reveal and early playtests almost two years ago, your support and passion for Stampede has been an inspiration to us all.

Whilst we are deeply disappointed to end this journey, we are incredibly grateful for the memories and moments you allowed us to make together. Thank you.

In the discussions, players shared mixed sentiment with one prominent theme: the community wants an offline version. Similarly to the way that Nintendo handled Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp's closure, players are hoping an offline, paid version will be offered for those who loved it and wish to see it thrive in peer-to-peer and local online.

The rest of the Steam News Post focuses on the final season, where players will still be able to enjoy the gameplay and partake before it closes forever. The "Season 1" update has arrived to Steam and Xbox users, bringing a slew of changes, additions, improvements, and content for players to enjoy.

Here is everything you can expect from Stampede: Racing Royale's Season 1 Update:

  • Four new race circuits (Twin Thruway, Neon Circuit, Wentworth Park, and Stratos Raceway)
  • Eight new karts
  • Xbox Achievements
  • Season Pass
  • Events
  • More

The updated Season 1 — and the final season of Stampede: Racing Royale — is officially here. You can play it for free, and stay tuned for more information on the official closing time sometime in summer 2025.
