SnowRunner Will Let Modders Take the Wheel From Day One
Modders are the lifeblood for many long-running games; they're a core part of the PC gaming landscape and can vastly increase any game's longevity. Saber Interactive and Focus Home Interactive are making a concerted effort to embrace the modding community of SnowRunner, their upcoming extreme environment driving simulator.
By working with Mod.io and modders of MudRunner, SnowRunner's spiritual predecessor, the companies have confirmed that a number of vehicle mods will be ready for launch upon the game's release on 28th April. On top of that, the Mod.io partnership will allow the top modders to be rewarded for their work.
Thanks to the modders working on SnowRunner pre-launch, vehicle mods will be available (and can be created by all) from day one; the ability to fully modify maps and create custom missions will open up shortly after release. Modding has been a great boon for the continuing popularity of MudRunners and it's hoped that SnowRunners will benefit in much the same way.
Just like its predecessor, SnowRunner puts players in control of some of the toughest road vehicles on some of the roughest terrain. This time however—as suggested by the name—there's an icy twist to the dangerous open environments on offer. By taking on perilous (and well-paying) driving contracts in solo or via four-player co-op, players will earn money to upgrade, customise and grow their fleet of vehicles.
It's a long, hard road, but remember: if it was easy, it wouldn't be fun...
SnowRunner releases on Xbox One, PC (via the Epic Games Store) and PlayStation 4 on 28th April. Mods are available for PC only.
