Sirius Online Development Halted
Sirius Online has been in development for a long time. A seriously long time. About a decade and a half of toil has gone into the game, and in that time, technology has moved on. For that reason, creator Rene Dirks, has decided to update some of the underlying code to the game, so the Early Access title is taking a development hiatus while this is done.
Up until now, the game has been running on the Blitz3D engine. Whilst this is a very capable engine, it's getting a little long in the tooth now, making it harder for the developers of Sirius Online to do exactly what they want. The code of the game is now being ported over to the Unreal 4 Engine, giving the game a much more modern framework from which to work.
The team behind the game will be posting regular screenshots as they slowly port assets to the new engine, and anyone playing will still be able to, there just won't be any new features for a little while. That said, the game still has plenty of features in Early Access, so you'll have plenty to keep you busy while you await the shiny new version.
