Shenmue III Delayed Until November
3rd June 2019 – Yu Suzuki and Deep Silver made an official announcement on the Shenmue III Kickstarter page that there have been delays to the highly anticipated game, Shenmue III. Originally slated for release on 27th August 2019, the new release date will now officially be 19 November 2019. The primary reason for this later launch date is stated to be due to “the game simply needs a little more refinement before being truly finished.”
Players have waited 14 years for a third installment of the Shenmue series, an action adventure game that was developed by Yu Suzuki for the Dreamcast in 1999 and 2001. Shenmue became the most expensive video game ever developed at the time with an estimated production and marketing cost of between $47 and $70 million US although development also covered some of Shenmue II. Despite high sales volumes, Shenmue was considered a commercial failure as it not recoup its development costs.
High definition ports of Shenmue and Shenmue II are available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
