Sea of Thieves Surpasses 25 Million Players
Rare’s Sea of Thieves has been a massive success and is continuing to grow. Microsoft has just announced that over 25 million pirates have set sail in the game. This is five million more than the 20 million milestone they had announced back in March.
To the 25 million pirates who have set out upon the Sea of Thieves so far, thank you! Here's to the Voyages we've shared, the foes we've overcome and the stories that await us as we sail into the future.

The huge spike in numbers was contributed by Rare’s collaboration with Disney to bring Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean to the game in a free expansion. The free expansion called A Pirate’s Life, launched back in June which was also the game’s best month with over 4.8 million players.
To celebrate, Rare has announced through an Xbox Wire post that they will be giving away 25,000 Gold and 25 Doubloons to anyone who logs into Sea of Thieves before 26 October (3PM BST). Rare has also said that one lucky player will be getting a reward of 25 million Gold.
So if you were planning on starting Sea of Thieves or planning to get back into the game, now may be the best time to do so. Sea of Thieves is included with Xbox Game Pass and is available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
