Save the Universe from The End (Literally) in Beyond Galaxyland Announcement Trailer
Take control of Doug, your average high-schooler that... oh... oh that doesn't look good. Wait, sorry, let's try that again.
Doug's entire world has been turned "upside down", by which we mean it was entirely destroyed by The End, an intergalactic entity that is going to destroy everything and it's up to you — still just an average high schooler — to save it all. Alongside a sentient robot and a gun-wielding guinea pig named Boom Boom. Just your usual superhero story.
Beyond Galaxyland is a newly announced title by Sam Enright and published by United Label. Revealed in a nearly two-minute-long video that is dripping with humour and personality, you'll learn all that you can about Galaxyland, including the inter-dimensional exploration and your duties to defend the world from the aptly named The End. Because that's the most descriptively named villain we've ever experienced.
This turn-based combat title will have you taking control of Doug with a unique twist to the Fish-out-of-Water trope. As a normal teenager, you'll partner up with a cast of quirky characters and set out to explore a variety of worlds in 2.5D, with sections featuring space travel and several minigames you'll be able to experience.
To save the world, you'll engage against enemies in turn-based combat with responsive gameplay for defensive mechanisms, keeping the old-school RPG a little more modernised to give you more control of the fight. With a vast amount of abilities, weaknesses, and even tactical advantages by scanning your foes, you'll be able to enter each battle well-prepared, with more than 25 boss fights and even a creature collecting elements. Gotta catch all of the space creatures!
Though we don't have an official release date for the experience, the full release will be coming later this year, as per United Label's CEO, Daren Newnham, who shared in the press a quote of his anticipation for the title.
“We’re so thrilled we get to publish Sam’s passion project later this year, and share Doug and Boom Boom’s incredible tale with the world... if not the Universe. He’s created an engaging and intimate sci-fi story that goes beyond the grinding gameplay some turn-based RPGs fall foul of, while injecting classic platform puzzler gameplay along the way.”
You can wishlist Beyond Galaxyland now on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, the Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
