Sony Santa Monica New AAA IP Cancelled
A former employee of Sony Santa Monica, the studio most famous for the God of War franchise, has said that their AAA title which was in development has been cancelled.
Jonathan Hawkin was a lead level designer for the studio and was made redundant by Sony earlier this week, he confirmed the rumour of the project being cancelled on his Twitter account:
I lived the dream & got to accomplish all of my goals. Except one: making something out of nothing and creating a new AAA IP.
The saddest part of waking up today is I no longer get to work with my family. Secondly, the pain that I feel for my friends who have lost their jobs.
The saddest and most important part is the game I was creating for the player that will never be played. I'm sorry that I've failed you.
Sony teased in August 2013 that Santa Monica was working on an unannounced PlayStation 4 title, but has not commented on the cancellation.
