SaGa Frontier Remastered: How New Protagonist "Fuse" Fits into the Story

We're just one month away from the release of SaGa Frontier Remastered on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, PC, iOS and Android. In the run-up to the 1998 RPG classic's re-release on the 15th April, Square Enix has revealed details regarding the game's new eighth protagonist, Fuse, and how he will integrate into the existing story.

Fuse's story content as it relates to each of the seven original protagonists can be unlocked by beating that protagonist's respective story. The addition of Fuse to the game's events means that each character now has an alternate ending. In fact, there are several potential endings possible with Fuse, as a result of choices players will make throughout the game. On top of that, the game now features what are being dubbed "IF" scenarios. These seek to explore the potential ramifications of Fuse's involvement in the story, and they will let players form parties which were impossible in the original game.

Additionally, where it was impossible to recruit a full party, featuring all protagonists, in the original game, it will be possible with Fuse. If all the right conditions are met, Fuse can unite all seven (eight, including Fuse himself) into one unstoppable fighting force. It's a good thing too: Fuse's storyline makes it possible for players to face the other protagonists' final bosses (up to six) in one challenging battle featuring new music from Kenji Ito.

Far from a shoehorned-in addition, Fuse looks to be a significant player in the shaken-up storyline of SaGa Frontier Remastered. Players will be able to experience the changes and relive the familiar moments when it launches for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, PC, iOS and Android on the 15th April.
