Running With Scissors Shares POSTAL 4: No Regerts Development Update

Running With Scissors Shares POSTAL 4: No Regerts Development Update

The latest entry into the now well-established POSTAL franchise has been stagnant for a little bitThe POSTAL 4: No Regerts team has acknowledged the lack of updates over the last few months and is working towards making changes to the way they've been handling updates.

In a Development Update shared on Steam, Running With Scissors addresses a few changes coming and mentions the way that updates will be handled moving forward. Shifting from a slow flow of updates with large gaps of silence, the team is implementing Valve's new API features to make it easier to test out in-development builds and try out the latest version of POSTAL 4.

To this end, the team shares that they'll be working with the beta branch and updating it every week or so. Though we don't get information on what we can expect with each weekly branch release, whether its new content, bug fixes, or optimisation, the Running With Scissors is hoping to keep it updated for players who wish to experience the game's latest build.

The release of the beta branch is set to come out sometime in the new year — 2025. However, we already know of a few improvements and changes that the team is hoping to add in the year and that players will be able to experience in the beta branches before their official launch to the release version of the game. The things mentioned that are coming are the following:

  • four-player co-op support for the main campaign from start to finish (undergoing final testing)
  • Better checkpointing system to add stakes to death for single-player (undergoing final testing)
  • Better AI behaviour to make them feel more alive rather than meandering (30% done)
  • Sound additions and improvements
  • Many bug fixes

The ultimate goal with this is to give players an improved experience every week and incorporate features that are being tested that are mostly ready to reach the public build. We don't have an official release date for these changes and when the Beta Branch will be implemented, but we know it'll be sometime in 2025.
