Rumours Abound Regarding 'Project Beast'

An unverified batch of screenshots first posted on notorious imageboard 4chan and later NeoGAF have caused speculation that FROM SOFTWARE, developers of the Souls and Armored Core series of games who were recently purchased by Kadokawa, are currently working on the latest installment in their Souls series; tentatively titled Project Beast.

Although there has been neither an official confirmation or denial from the developers, the screenshots are certainly reminiscent of hallmarks of the series, showing a character surrounded by torch wielding zombies, facing off with a giant hound and approaching a fog gate. The dreary atmosphere and grim visuals are certainly in line with that is expected from FROM SOFTWARE's fantasy titles, but the main character wears clothing more suited for a 16th or 17th century setting and appears to be wielding a firearm associated with that period.

Despite the source of these images being strongly indicative that they have been faked, the screenshots are very convincing and are visually very similar to recent Dark Souls II. With E3 weeks away it would not be surprisingly to see an announcement from the Japanese developers who are becoming increasingly established in the West.
