Rudy Giuliani Defends Activision Against Manuel Noriega

You couldn't make this up! Activision have hired Rudy Giuliani's law firm to defend them against the suit raised by Manuel Noriega.

Back in July, we reported on the fact that former Nicaraguan dictator Manuel Noriega was suing Activision for portraying him as a kidnapper, murderer and enemy of the state in such a way as to heighten realism in its game Call of Duty: Black Ops II. 

Now, Activision have hired the man who lowered crime levels in New York City by record amounts to slap Gen. Noriega up the side of his head and teach him a lesson in legal probity.

What's astonishing is that Manuel Noriega, a notorious dictator who is in prison for the heinous crimes he committed, is upset about being portrayed as a criminal and enemy of the state in the game Call of Duty. Quite simply, it's absurd.

I'm not interested in giving handouts to a convicted murderer and drug smuggler like Manuel Noriega who is demanding money from Activision and its popular Call of Duty franchise for simply exercising its right to free speech. Noriega's attack on the rights of Call of Duty comes as no surprise considering he's a lawless tyrant who trampled over the rights of his own people.

 Activision have stated in a press release that if successful, General Noriega's efforts would give numerous historical and political figures and their heirs a veto right over their appearances in works of art. They fear this would have a negative effect on movies such as Forrest Gump, Zero Dark Thirty and Captain Phillips. TV shows such as Boardwalk Empire, and books such as Primary Colors and The Paris Wife, along with many others.
