Rocket League Season 1 Ushered in with Patch 1.05
Yes, today marks the start of the first season of indie hit Rocket League
The fast paced racing/football crossover has become a huge hit online, especially in the YouTube community where it's been the subject of countless Let's Play videos. That success is now being capitalised on with the launch of the first official season. Ranked divisions are now split into three Bronze, Silver and Gold tiers with a Platinum tier strictly reserved for the top 100 players.
Psyonix state on their website that "Reaching Silver, Gold, or Platinum division rewards players with special reward items at the Season’s end" but they don't say what the rewards will be just yet. The season is set to last for a few months but a firm end date is also not yet set in stone.
Patch 1.05 brings a whole host of other goodies with it as well, including over 30 new flags, improvements to the "spectate mode" and PC players can now filter PS4 players out of their matchmaking search. There's a number of bug fixes for both PC and PS4 players, HTML tags are now disabled in chat and the music player interface is now more ubiquitous with an interface on all screens for those that want it.

Some really great change in this patch - adding some polish really.
The new Utopia map has had a needed revamp, a track selection widget is welcomed and 'Find New Match' in ranked games has taken an unnecessarily long time to come about.
Still want them to have a rain toggle - despite the initial complications.

I was finnaly happy to hear that ranked season 1 began ... after sticking 70+ hours into pre season before knowing it was preseaeon wasnt cool
