Roadhouse Interactive Closed
Roadhouse Interactive, the Canadian studio behind games such as Iron Maiden: Legacy of the Beast, Red Bull: Air Race and Warhammer 40,000: Carnage, have been closed, causing the loss of 125 jobs. The studio cited poor performance of their recently released musical tie-in game as one of the reasons for closure.
We reviewed Legacy of the Beast here at GameGrin and thoroughly enjoyed it, with reviews on mobile storefronts suggesting that we weren't the only ones and the game was garnering a lot of fans. Sadly, with the game being released around the same time as the Juggernaut that was Pokémon Go, there was always going to be an uphill climb for the indie studio.
Earlier in the summer, the developer had to let 25 staff go in a bid to remain competitive, but poor sales, combined with the cancellation of an in-development project has meant that the company have had to choice but to shut up shop.
James Hursthouse, one of the founders of the company stated "After six great years, we are sorry to have to announce that Roadhouse closed its doors on September 1st, 2016. We would like to thank all of our customers, players and especially our staff for their support and dedication over the years," he said.
"Our games are expected to continue on in very capable hands. We are very proud of what we accomplished and look forward to seeing what this fantastic group of people achieves next."
