Rise of the Tomb Raider Announcement "Didn't Intend to Cause Any Confusion"
In a blog post titled Rise of the Tomb Raider FAQ, there are five questions that are literally all about the announcement and not the game itself. The blog is run by the Crystal Dynamics office.
Despite saying they didn't intend any confusion, the blog post they link to by Darrell Gallagher,
Head of Crystal Dynamics only mentions Rise of the Tomb Raider coming to Xbox. It mentions other platforms, yet specifically doesn't mention Rise of the Tomb Raider appearing on them, despite being the perfect opportunity to do so.
This doesn’t mean that we’re walking away from our fans who only play on PlayStation or on PC. Those are great systems, with great partners, and amazing communities. We have Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris coming to those platforms this December, and Tomb Raider: The Definitive Edition is available on PS4.
The reason given in the FAQ is:
Why didn’t Microsoft, Square Enix or Crystal Dynamics say upfront it was a timed exclusive? Why all the indirect language?
We certainly didn’t intend to cause any confusion with the announcement. The Microsoft Gamescom stage was a great place to make the initial announcement, but not necessarily to go into details.
Although including the word 'limited' and not including it in the "Exclusive to Xbox" section of the keynote, may have saved a little of the backdraft from this affair.
Rise of the Tomb Raider is coming to Xbox 360 and Xbox One, Q4 2015.
