Resident Evil 3 Remake Reached 2 Million Units Shipped Within its First Five Days
Following last year’s critical and commercial smash hit remake of Resident Evil 2, it seems like Capcom has another financial winner on its hands with the recent Resident Evil 3 remake.
Capcom has revealed that the title managed to reach a strong two million units shipped within in its first five days on the market, with nearly 50% of the total units being made up through digital sales of the game. 1999’s Resident Evil 3: Nemesis attained three and a half million lifetime sales, so it seems safe to assume that this new version won’t have any issue eclipsing the sales of the original.
While it hasn’t had quite as strong of a launch as 2019’s Resident Evil 2, and its three million sales in its first week, it should be worth noting that Resident Evil 2 had many more years of anticipation behind it prior to its launch, and was met with a stronger critical reception. Speaking of Resident Evil 2’s sales, the remake has now reached 6.5 million sales worldwide, supplanting Street Fighter II as Capcom’s fifth best-selling game overall.
Resident Evil 3 remake is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
