Rainbow Six Siege Post Launch Maps to be Free of Charge
Ubisoft announced initial details of their multiplayer maps for Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege and it's excited a number of redditors thanks to the announcement that future maps will be available without cost.
In a statement on the game's official Reddit Channel, Ubisoft revealed that players can look forward to 11 maps at launch, none of which will be time restricted and that they are planning on releasing additional content for free to all players of the game:
"We are glad to finally share with you that at launch, Rainbow Six Siege will have 11 maps, playable both day or night, all using the full potential of our Real Blast destruction technology. In addition, all post-launch maps will be downloadable for free. We want players to stay with us for the long term and have ambitious post-launch plans that we will detail at a later stage."
With so much DLC made available as a purchasable extra via microtransactions, it's a bold move by Ubisoft to keep the goodwill of players and certainly players are responding well. At the time of writing, the top voted comment simply says; "because of this post... you guys have earned a lot of respect from the entire gaming community. *Round of applause."
