Quake III was one of the early multiplayer FPS-genres from the 90s, and today, being the 15th anniversary of the game, Quake Live had just received an update which adds 9 new maps and 11 Steam trading cards.
The first part of the update includes information regarding the new Steam trading cards that are available for players to receive half of via drops by playing the game, they can use them to sell, trade and craft badges which will reap in rewards for the consumer. The art on the cards can be viewed on Bethesda's Blog post.
The second part of the update included nine new arenas for players to battle their friends and strangers online. One of the maps was a previous map which was removed, Sorrow, of which has been "renovated."
As well as all of these, there were some smaller updates in the patches which included:
"unlocked map rotation, 1 new in-game medal, announcer VO updates and volume controls, and subscriber map voting."
Currently due to the circumstances of the update and anniversary, they are offering "50% off the annual Pro subscriptions" which can be purchased on the site.
