Puyo Puyo Tetris Is Coming West And Bringing The Crazy

The Puyo Puyo series has been around since 1991 although it's had a hit and miss release schedule in the West. Luckily Sega are bringing the crossover entry to both PlayStation 4 and the Nintendo Switch this year.

Puyo Puyo Tetris as the name suggests blends the gameplay of Puyo Puyo and Tetris together in a wacky hybrid keeping elements of both games. The gameplay trailer showcases the available modes this time around and they include an adventure mode and a traditional versus mode along with the following:

• Swap - Players' abilities are put to the ultimate test when they compete on both Puyo Puyo and Tetris boards, which switch back and forth at set intervals.
• Fusion - A true hybrid game where players compete with Puyos and Tetriminos together on the same board, requiring deft, on-the-fly thinking to become victorious.
• Big Bang - It's a race to the finish as players compete against each other to clear unique challenge boards as quickly as possible to win.
• Party - Players compete on Puyo or Tetris boards, but the puzzles feature special items that when activated either help players or harm their opponents.

The game is coming to the Americas on the 25th April and Europe on the 28th April for both PlayStation 4 and the Nintendo Switch. It will be available physically on PS4 (for $29.99) and both digitally (for $29.99) and physically (for $39.99) on Switch.
